Dr. Mariela Alfonzo is an internationally-renowned thought-leader with 20+ years of experience quantifying the relationship between urban design, behavior, and social, health, environmental, and economic value. Using this evidence-based approach to advocate for livable, sustainable, and equitable places, she founded State of Place, an AI-driven, urban design data, scenario, and predictive analytics software that helps city-makers create just, thriving, and inclusive communities by prioritizing community-scale infrastructure investments that maximize quality of life. Dr. Alfonzo is an Urban Land Institute 40 under 40, a Fulbright Scholar, a Research Professor at NYU, and holds a PhD in Urban Planning from UC Irvine.
